Which shops do we recommend?
When it comes to shopping around Lo Stagnone:
- Lo Stagnone Minimarket (Birgi) – a small shop by the lagoon with basic products (water, drinks, bread, snacks, household items, cosmetics). Perfect when you don’t have a car and need something “quick.”
- Supermarket in San Leonardo (Tumminello / market) – about 4 km from the spot; a larger selection of products, a counter with cheeses and cured meats, an excellent Tumminello butcher, and a greengrocer across the street – perfect for barbecues and bigger shopping trips.
- SISA – a larger supermarket about 10 km from the lagoon, good for full grocery shopping,
- Decò / Maxistore Decò (Marsala) – popularna sieć supermarketów w Marsali (np. Via Trapani, Via Sebastiano Lipari), oferująca szeroki wybór produktów, świeże warzywa, wędliny i lokalne specjały.
- Lidl (Marsala) – the nearest one is about 14 km from the spot; good if you want to do a large, budget-friendly shopping trip for several days.
It’s worth remembering that in Sicily, siesta is observed – most shops are closed roughly between 1:00 PM and 4:00–4:30 PM, so it’s best to plan bigger shopping trips in the morning or late afternoon.
