No, you don’t need any experience to sign up for a kitesurfing course at KITE HABITS. We offer courses for beginners, advanced riders, and also kite courses for children who want to start their kiteboarding adventure from scratch.

Answer

Yes. The Lo Stagnone lagoon in Sicily is one of the best places in Europe to start a kitesurfing adventure. It is shallow, calm, and almost wave-free, which makes learning kitesurfing safer, easier, and less stressful for beginners.

How long does a kitesurfing course at Kite Habits last?

Answer

The courses come in different formats – we offer 2, 4, 8, and 12-hour packages, as well as the option to create an individual kitesurfing training program. Everyone learns at a different pace, so the number of hours needed to ride independently depends on your abilities, the conditions, and the regularity of the lessons.

Do I need my own equipment for the kitesurfing course?

Answer

No, you don’t need your own equipment. We provide a complete training set (kites, boards, harnesses, wetsuits, helmets, and impact vests), selected according to your weight, height, and skill level.

What qualifications do your kitesurfing instructors have?

Answer

At KITE HABITS, you learn with licensed PZKite and IKO instructors who have many years of experience teaching kitesurfing. The team also includes competitors and experienced riders, allowing us to combine solid teaching methodology with high-level practical riding experience.

Are kitesurfing courses safe?

Answer

Safety is our top priority. We use the highest-quality equipment, including beginner-friendly kites (so-called hybrid kites). During lessons, we maintain constant radio communication with students, and the learning takes place in a shallow lagoon. At our kitesurfing school in Sicily, instructors continuously monitor weather conditions and adjust the lessons to ensure they are as safe and comfortable as possible.

For children and teenagers, there is a minimum weight requirement – participants should weigh at least 30 kg.

The kitesurfing season in Sicily lasts from April to October, roughly 7 months. The Lo Stagnone lagoon is known for its stable thermal winds (around 14–26 knots), especially during the summer, which allows for regular sessions on the water.

Of course. We help book stays in trusted accommodations and support you in organizing the entire trip. You can go kitesurfing while your family or friends explore Sicily and enjoy the local attractions. We also offer options for companions who don’t kiteboard but still want to spend their time actively.

Do I need to book the kitesurfing course or accommodation in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking the course and accommodation in advance, especially during the high season, to ensure availability. However, we are flexible – once you arrive at our kitesurfing school in Sicily, you can increase the number of hours or slow down the learning pace. You only pay for the lessons you actually take, and we conduct training only when the wind conditions are suitable.

What are the health requirements to participate in a kitesurfing course?

You don’t need to be a professional athlete to take part in a kitesurfing course – basic physical fitness and comfort in the water are enough. At our KITE HABITS kitesurfing school, we take safety very seriously, so before starting the lessons we ask you to inform us of any health limitations. If you feel unwell during the course, let your instructor know immediately – we will adjust the pace or stop the lesson if necessary.

Do I need insurance for the kitesurfing course?

Answer

Yes, we recommend liability and personal accident insurance (covering water sports), as it protects you in case of accidents or equipment damage. When choosing a policy, check how the company classifies kitesurfing (often as a high-risk or extreme sport). Additionally, during the course, our kitesurfing school provides personal accident insurance for €5 per person per day – this is a standard part of the course registration and adds an extra layer of comfort and peace of mind for participants.

What will I achieve after completing the kitesurfing course?

Answer

After a beginner kitesurfing course, you will be able to control the kite, relaunch it from the water, and perform body drags. The next step is starting on the kiteboard and completing your first upwind and downwind runs. In more advanced courses, we teach edging against the wind, turning, and controlling speed in different conditions. Independent students continue to progress – practicing pop, jumps, toeside riding, basic maneuvers, and even their first unhooked tricks. At every stage of the training, each participant goes through a self-rescue procedure and learns how to safely launch and land the kite.

Question 13

What if there is no wind during the kitesurfing course?

Answer

If the wind conditions do not allow for safe and effective training, the lessons are rescheduled for the following days of your stay. You don’t lose any hours – we conduct the course only in optimal conditions and charge only for the hours actually spent on the water.
